BERESKA TAKE HOME ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS In no more than 4 pages (not including cover page or references list), formally developed, ASA format (see Dr. Abel, as posted on Acorn, or as found on the Department of Sociology Web Page): Using an example to frame your response, explain what Bereska means by the social typing process, the way in which the social typing process creates deviance, and the ways in which we respond to that constructed deviance, including both formal and informal prescriptions. From there, using Chapter 10 of the text, discuss an alternate strategy that allows us to identify deviance, and assess the way(s) in which this second approach departs from—and transcends—identifying deviance through the social typing process. Paraphrase, summarize and synthesize. Do not use direct quotes; however, when citing in-text, include page numbers (using ASA) even when paraphrasing. Both content and formatting will be heavily weighted in the evaluation of the papers. You have one week to submit your paper, as per course syllabus. Due 11:00 PM, April 7, 2021. I would appreciate your efforts, if you can submit before this date. If so, I can stagger the grading and have the course grades released much sooner. This assignment uses a grading rubric.
